Attending to the mental health of officers. They see so much ugly, and just like soldiers returning from war, there will be times they need healthy and safe therapy from time to time. It means tearing down the thin blue line that keeps good cops from being able to report bad cops. It means investing in community programs that help people build safe neighborhoods. It means so much more than just defunding the police. And if done right and with follow through, everyone wins. Educate yourself before you pick your side so you don’t end up cutting your nose off to spite your face. It has been bad enough in some situations that the social worker has had to take law enforcement with them to home visits- at one point here in Michigan social workers went in pairs because not safe to go alone.
