They should have done that for the nurses that were already there. Your family, friends, or you will suffer an adverse event if you are being cared for in an environment staffed like that. Those patients are supposed to be staffed 2 patients to 1 nurse for a reason. You CANNOT monitor and adjust drips of critical meds, ensure patients are properly vented, and perform all the other tasks required to keep people from dying. They don’t want patients to die because there isn’t enough of them to keep people alive. They weren’t being selfish or lazy. They are scared for themselves and their patients.
